A True Biblical Concept about God and His Incarnation

The Bible tell us about an Excelsior God whose attributes makes him an extraordinary being with qualities far beyond our very limited human comprehension. Some of his characteristics are:

  • Omnipresence (the ability of being everywhere at any time)
  • Omniscience (ability to know everything)
  • Omnipotence (able to do it all)

There is no doubt about the fact that God has revealed to us, through his Written Word, as an Almighty and Absolute Power. Biblical references such as Isaiah 40:12-25 and Job 38 describe God as impossible to be understood as a whole by any of his creatures. However, God chose to let himself be known by descending to our levels of human comprehension in the Person of Jesus Christ.

Whoever understands that it is God's own initiative to establish a personal relationship with his creatures will also understand the teachings presented here in this magazine issue:

  • The need and purpose of the Lord's own incarnation.
  • Christ preexistence reality
  • The understanding that the pre-existing Christ was known in the Scriptures as the archangel Michael.

It is very clear the fact that God self- determined to create angelical and human beings, and with the passing of time gather them together to establish one universal family composed of free entities that will recognize him as the One and Only Sovereign God of the Universe, and praise him in spirit and truthfulness. In the Epistle to the Ephesians is written: " And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put in effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment- to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ." (Ephesians 1:9-10).

What does it means to gather together all things in Christ? Dear reader, it means that Christ is the factor, which gives place to this proposed gathering of all creatures at the end of time. Christ is also the agent by whom is the beginning of God's creation, as it is written in Revelations 3:14, "...the ruler of God's creation...", in reference to Christ. The implication of this declaration is that Christ is the meeting point between Divinity and Humanity, in other words, he is the channel which gives God the ability to come in contact with men, but no one can come in touch with God except through Christ. It is very obvious, God extraordinary greatness and men's smallness cannot come in touch without this meeting point. It is clear the need and purpose of the Lord's incarnation. It is written, " For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth; visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him." (Colossians 1:16).

God, by his own will, created Jesus of Nazareth inside the virgin Mary's womb (Psalms 40:6-8; Matthews 1:20), and chose to dwell in him. Paul, in reference to Christ, wrote in the Epistle to the Colossians, " For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form." (Colossians 2:9).

Wonder of all wonders! Christ, the preexisting one, incarnates into a human form becoming Emmanuel (God with us). It is written, " Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by the angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory." (1 Timothy 3:16).

God is only accsesible through Chirist

The Scriptures assures us that God lives in unapproachable light; whom no one has seen or can see...(1 Timothy 6:16). John clearly establishes that God has never been seen; his only begotten Son, who is at the Father's side, has made him known. (John 1:18). God is the Invisible One. " ...as seeing him who is invisible." (Hebrews 11:27); " He is the image of the Invisible God..." (Colossians 1:15).

By analizing Colossians 1:15 we must come up with the conclusion that the Person of Christ is the one who gives visibility to God; no one have seen and will never see God except through Christ. Christ is God's image and the one who has the tangible form of God, who will never be seeing or understood in his transcendence. The Epistle to the Hebrews declares that Christ is the exact representation of God's being (Hebrews 1:3). The emphasis here declared is: Christ is the EXACT REPRESENTATION OF HIS BEING, not a copy of that being but God's own substance in which he chose to take shape (form) in the Person of Jesus. It is extraordinarily clear. Is'nt it?.

God has decided by His own will to live among His creatureseternally

" And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ` Now dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God." (Revelations 21:3). There is no doubt, the dwelling of God is Christ's humanity, or, in other words, his bodily form. Therefore, Christ is the incarnation of God with a body similar to ours. This fact implies that God decided to restrain himself and " being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness." ( Philippians 2:6-7).

Even though, Christ was exalted to the position of King of Kings and Lord of Lords he will continue functioning as such in his chosen human form for eternity. In other words, God, in the person of Christ, will behave as one of us in terms of conduct, and live among us within our space and time frame. The Sovereign God of the entire universe, by his own will, decided to live in an environment similar to our own. Christ belongs to our level in every sense of the word and this is God's Will to be so. For this reason, we know that when he appears among the clouds of heaven, we will be like him (1 John 3:2). This is the way things will be and this does not, by no means, diminish or eliminate power away from him; for all power and authority has been conferred to his Almighty Son, so he can be one among his many brothers. Wonderful!

Jesus, during his earthly days, performed many extraordinary miracles which broke many of the known physical laws of nature, such as, walking on water and also giving a command to Peter to do it also. Peter became amazed seeing himself accomplish this miracle, but, by putting his sight in his accomplishment, started to sink. It is clear, the purpose of this supernatural action was to make evident the fact that we must always depend in Jesus, or otherwise perish. The question is: Was Christ behavior part of his normal Jewish life or did it have a special purpose? Jesus the Christ, acted with a normal human behavior in all aspects of his earthly life. Here is the great paradox: while still he was divine he never stopped acting as a man. There were many occasions in which he stayed in someone's home, rested, ate food, and walked long distances with his disciples. There was an occasion when he decided to travel on a donkey, because being in the form of a man and also to represent humanity, he felt and behave as a man; a very special one but still a man. This man, who represent us before God, was raised from the dead, and even after his resurrection, he behaved as one of us, he asked for food to his disciples after his victory over death. (Luke 24:40).

The King of King's human behavio must not be a surpriose for anyone

It is clearly atonishing the fact that Christ behaved as any normal man, and even did so after his resurrection. Why is it a surprise for many that he decided, by his own Sovereign Will, to return in a mean of transportation? Does God has any limitations on which convenient way he chooses to return to this world? Isn't it taught in the Scriptures that he is returning with his saints (angels) in light? Do you still believe angels have the ability to travel in outer space as an innate quality in them? Do they adhere to outer space as ethereal entities? Is'nt it true that the Bible establishes the fact that angels have heavenly and substantial bodies?

There is no doubt the Holy Word establishes that the redeemed, in their transformed bodies, will be similar to the angels, and we will never fly "motu proprio", or without the aid of some sort of mean of transportation. The eternal man will live in this planet permanently restored and everlasting. Man will always have hands and feet to walk and do but no wings to fly. The Bible cannot lie. We will have means of transportation ( which God allowed man to discover so he can be happy and useful) to travel through outer space. Technology is part of man's happiness, which God created in his own image and likeness.

The Stars, the Holy City and Flying Vehicles

The Bible declares the fact that the earth as well as the stars are drifting in outer space and this is true (Job 26:7). God keeps them in its right place in a mysterious but effective manner. As a matter of principle, we must say that planets have similar characteristics as a space vehicle (without forgetting that there are also some differences). Some of these characteristics are:

  1. They support themselves in space.
  2. They move in space.
  3. They can hold additional weight to their natural contents.
  4. They are spatial objects.

The extraordinary size of a planet or a star as huge as our Sun can only had been created by an Infinite, Excelsior and Almighty God. There is no doubt at all that the creature will never achieve that magnificent level of creational capacity. Man, created in God's image and likeness, will imitate his Creator in a very limited and lower scale. Inferring from this clear and biblical train of thought (which many will call the rational method), this century's technological progress is the product of that creative skill which God made man and to say that this progress is the result of man's sin is irrational and barbaric. What sin really does is to make man pervert the use and purpose of his invention.

The Holy City

The Bible speaks of a Holy City coming down from heaven (Revelations 21:2). The Holy City called the New Jerusalem, will become the capital city of the world and the Universe due to the fact that God himself, represented in the Person of Christ, will live in it (Revelations 21:22-27). This descending sacred city will function as a mean of transportation by which Jesus will return with his saints. It is clear the fact that Jesus will send his angels to gather the elect from the four angles of the earth ( Matthews 24:31) to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17), " and so we will be with the Lord forever." It is clear and logical that the angels will not be holding us up with their own arms during all that period of time. According to this statements, it is clear that we will be placed in the Holy City to meet the Lord and his angels. After a thousand year period, time during which we will see other worlds, we will return to this planet to be witnesses of the Judgement of all unbelievers before the Great White Throne (Revelations 20:11-15).

It is astoundingly undeniable the fact that the Holy City is used by God as a mean of transportation during the Second Coming of Christ, the Millenium, and as the place of residence for the Lord and his saints functioning this way the Capital City of the entire Universe (Revelations 20:9).

How wonderful and merciful is God with his creatures! How great is the mystery of his Incarnation! The Incarnation is the heart and foundation of the Gospel, which implies the fact of God became a man and came down to the human level of comprehension in the Person of Christ for love to his creatures.
